The Orange County Humane Society
is about helping animals…

Our volunteers go to the animal shelter on a regular basis and bathe animals, brush dogs and cats, walk dogs, and spend time interacting with the animals.  Volunteers      canassist with some office work, or help clean cat cages. This is a great volunteer opportunity for teenagers too!

We take shelter dogs to the PetSmart Store at Central Park in Fredericksburg every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00-4:30 for adoption. The program has been immensely successful and hundreds of dogs have been adopted this way.  There are cats for adoption at the Central Park (Fredericksburg), Massaponax, Culpeper (Bragg's Corner) and Manassas (Bull Run) PetSmarts seven days a week.

We have a group of volunteers that transport cats to the various PetSmart stores for adoption, including the Manassas store twice a week.

We have a group of weekly volunteers that photograph the dogs and cats up for adoption and submit the photos to the local newspaper, and add them to Petfinder.com.

We raise money to help shelter animals in need.  Some of the ways we raise money are through our adoption program, fundraisers such as Pet Pictures with Santa at PetSmart, and our 50/50 raffle.

We work to support legislative issues that will get animals spayed and neutered and will help to end animal cruelty.

We transport animals that need veterinary care to local vets and many of our members foster dogs and cats who need some extra TLC or are recovering from surgery.

We are always looking for more ideas for fund raisers.  If you have a project idea or would just like to help, we would love to hear from you.
